I woke up that morning as usual. But yes the alarm clock had sounded a little weird that day.I did not know the reason at all.Everyday I would wake up at the first ray of the sun or you could say the nautical dawn.Yepp I was late!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My roomie was still snoring. She kept smiling in her sleep as if she felt she was dining with Yuvraj.A big fan of the handsome cricketer she always takes every other second somehow pulling him into our discussion.I was feeling that day is going to be a special whatever! It was just my gut feeling. As I yawned and strecthed vowing to my soul not to sleep again I jumped out of my bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awe-struck I shouted Tiktiki..............My roomie woke up for a second, smiled at me and clung to her pillow, back to her sleep again.
The door made a creaking sound and I looked back to see Roopa standing and grinning back at me with that same naughty curve beneath her nose.
She was standing with three tickets for the IPL match at Eden Garden stadium. As for me I am not all a cricket fan and maybe in a country like India where most of the people eat, drink, sleep cricket if not any other kind of sport,I am one of those who just know one over has 6 balls!!!!!!(Am I right!) Well I am not at all ashamed of my ignorance.I am into sports for long unlike my school days I loved playing basketball.
Three tickets and five fun-loving girls!!!!!The moment Roopa shouted,"Edens jabeee????????" My roomie jumped out of her bed shouting"Ki???????????????(What!)"
Fortunately, I had never expressed my ignorance about cricket.I would actually sit to watch the cricket matches on television more to see the cricketers than the game! But my friends could never make out whether I was actually doing the typical - "Peacock watching" or was actually glued to the TV for the fun of the game and the so called suspense!
I grabbed the ticket at once from Roopa, keeping one for me!So to settle the rest two.My roomie won't go.It is not Yuvraj's match!!!!!!!Roopa is like me whoever or whatever go "Peacock watching" and enjoy the ambience. She was settled with the other ticket.Left with one Riddhi was quick at grabbing the last one!
So finally we made the trio-Charlie's Angels all set to watch their first matche at the stadium.Handsome cricketers at a distance we all felt so delighted and eager. For whatever reason it may be I was more excited to see the movie stars and the cricketers than the match.
The match was to start at around four in the afternoon. We all had a light lunch and after a light nap set off for our fun-filled evening in the stadium.
Kept on walking, gate 1 to gate 10, our ticket numbers never seemed to match the seat lists...........Then we finally saw the gate no. 12.........
Here we are,the k-10,k-11 and k-12.........
We went inside and discovered that actually people were sitting as they pleased, provided they possessed the tickets. We took seats beneath the shades and ofcourse as of me I started my "Peacock glaring", there into the field.Unfortunately I realised that I could do better in the television.
But we enjoyed the ambience thoroughly, young men and women all charged up shouting,''Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo re" and the cheer leaders dancing for no reason at all.
Even there was a group of aunties who were having all the fun watching all the young men in the field. And gosh they were eagerly waiting for Shaharukh Khan to give us a glimpse.
There came the star and truely I would say we could see him like a star.Small and a little figure down in the fields waving his hand.
Finally the day came to an end, though it was all fun and great!
We returned with packed eggrolls and chicken rolls for us.
Really it was a high tide and a day full of fun for us the trio!
